Planet Zoo 2 Update Tracker & Patch Notes
Track every Planet Zoo 2 update and patch note in one place. We monitor Frontier's Steam news hub and official channels so you never miss a fix.

Latest Status
Planet Zoo 2 launched October 13, 2026. Frontier has not yet published post-launch patch notes; this tracker updates as they arrive.
The game shipped at version 1.0 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. As of this page’s last update, no hotfixes or balance patches have been released. When the first patch goes live, we will list its version number, date, and full changelog here, sourced directly from Frontier’s official announcements — never from leaks or guesses.
Where Official Patch Notes Are Published
Frontier uses a consistent set of channels for post-launch communication, and knowing where to look means you will see patch news first-hand rather than through second-hand summaries:
- Steam news hub. The primary source for PC players. Frontier posts patch notes, update announcements, and event news to the Planet Zoo 2 Steam news page. This is the canonical location for full changelogs.
- Official website and forums. Major updates are mirrored on planetzoogame.com, and Frontier’s official forums host developer discussion threads around each patch.
- Official social channels. The Planet Zoo X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts announce updates alongside short trailers or highlight reels.
- Discord and community channels. Frontier’s community team shares rapid-fire updates and known-issue acknowledgments through official Discord channels before formal patch notes go live.
If you want a single page that aggregates all of this, that is exactly what this tracker is for.
How This Tracker Works
This page is maintained with a simple, strict sourcing policy:
- Official sources only. Every entry links back to Frontier’s own announcement — the Steam news post, the official site, or a verified social account. We do not publish unverified “leaked” patch content.
- Dates and version numbers as stated. We record the exact version string and release date Frontier publishes, so you can compare notes with your own build in-game.
- Plain-language summaries. Each patch gets a short breakdown of what actually changed: bug fixes, performance improvements, animal and habitat adjustments, scenario or economy tuning, and new content.
- Update history preserved. Older patches stay listed below the latest entry, so the page works as a full version history for the game.
What to Expect Based on Planet Zoo 1
Planet Zoo 2’s post-launch roadmap has not been announced yet, but Frontier’s history with the original Planet Zoo is a reasonable guide to what the next few years look like:
- Years of support. The original Planet Zoo launched in 2019 and received continuous updates for more than five years. Frontier treated it as a live game, not a one-and-done release.
- Free updates alongside paid DLC. Frontier’s established pattern for Planet Zoo was a mix of free content updates — new animals, scenery pieces, gameplay features, and quality-of-life improvements — released alongside paid DLC packs.
- Over a dozen DLC packs. The first game received more than a dozen paid expansion packs themed around regions and animal groups, from aquatic life to Australian and South American fauna. It is reasonable to expect Planet Zoo 2 to follow a similar rhythm, though nothing is confirmed until Frontier announces it.
- Regular quality-of-life patches. Post-launch support for Frontier titles typically includes performance patches, crash fixes, and UI and gameplay tuning in the weeks after launch, when player feedback is at its peak.
We will report confirmed roadmap items on this page as soon as Frontier publishes them — and we will clearly label expectations versus announcements.
How Frontier Structures Patch Notes
If you have read patch notes for Frontier’s other titles, the format for Planet Zoo 2 will feel familiar. Changelogs typically group fixes under clear headings such as stability and crashes, gameplay and balance, animals and habitats, building and blueprints, scenery, UI and accessibility, and audio. Free content additions are called out separately from fixes, and Frontier usually includes a short developer note explaining the reasoning behind the biggest balance changes.
That structure matters for players because it lets you skim directly to the section that affects how you play — whether you are troubleshooting a crashing save in Franchise mode or checking whether an animal behavior quirk you reported was fixed.
Known Issues and Where to Report Bugs
Between patches, Frontier’s community team maintains known-issues lists on the official forums and acknowledges widespread problems through social channels. If you hit a bug in version 1.0:
- Check the official forums first to see if it is already tracked — duplicating reports slows triage.
- Use the in-game bug reporter if available, or follow the forum template for reproduction steps.
- Attach your save file and system specs; the most actionable reports include both.
We do not maintain our own bug list here — official channels are the source of truth — but once a fix ships, this page will tell you exactly which patch addressed it.

Launch Editions and Version 1.0
Planet Zoo 2 launched in two editions. The Standard Edition ($49.99) includes the full base game. The Deluxe Edition ($64.99) adds six bonus species and exclusive animal signs, and a separate Deluxe Upgrade Pack is available for owners of the Standard Edition. If you are deciding between them, our Deluxe Edition content breakdown lists every item in each tier.
For a head start in-game, see our beginner guide, and if you are planning a long-term park, the Franchise mode overview explains how the persistent online zoo mode works. You can browse every animal confirmed for launch on the full animal list, and follow Frontier’s pre-launch communication in our animal reveals tracker.
